Middle Park is an estate located in the Eltham district of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The estate is situated east southeast of Charing Cross. Middle Park is within and gives it name to the electoral ward ''Middle Park and Sutcliffe'', which also covers Horn Park. Boy George from Culture Club lived on the Estate in young life at Joan Crescent. The houses are brick built with pitched tiled roofs. The gardens are of generous size. The houses are known as parlour type or Non Parlour. Gregory Crescent and Joan Crescent are to the west of the estate with Joan crescent gardens on the even numbers looking over Sidcup Road, part of the A20 road locally known as the mad mile. The railway line cuts through the back of Joan Crescent on the Sidcup loop line to Dartford. In the 1970s a freight train derailed fell down the embankment into peoples back gardens. One resident on the private housing side lost his bird aviary in the derailment. Many residents on the estate have used the right to buy scheme introduced by Margaret Thatcher 1n 1980, this has changed the appearance of some properties dramatically. There are local shops on the estate at the junction of Kingsground and Middle Park Avenue.
